A textile salesman (also called fabric sales executive or cloth shop salesperson) works in textile shops, showrooms, or wholesale markets, helping customers select fabrics and garments while driving sales. Core Responsibilities Customer assistance: Welcome customers, understand their needs, and suggest suitable fabrics (cotton, silk, linen, synthetics, etc.) Product knowledge: Explain fabric quality, price, durability, and suitable uses (suits, sarees, uniforms, upholstery, etc.) Sales handling: Promote products, upsell higher-value items, and close sales Display management: Arrange fabrics neatly, maintain attractive displays, and restock shelves Billing support: Assist with invoicing or operate billing systems if required Inventory checking: Monitor stock levels and report shortages Order handling: Manage bulk or custom orders for customers like tailors or boutiques Customer relationships: Build repeat business through good service Skills Required Good communication and persuasion skills Basic knowledge of fabrics and textile types Customer service orientation Basic math and billing skills Neat appearance and presentation Qualifications Basic education (10th/12th pass often sufficient) Experience in retail or textile sales is an advantage On-the-job training is common Store helper are welcome too
